It's amazing to see how quick 2 years fly. literally. Spending time in K-class had its fun and interesting moments despite the competitiveness that drives me insane. It's really sad to see you people go, just hope you like the Haribo candies and have a good time in class chalet. :)

Just want to share some comments on 4Kudosians. :) Below are my first impressions and last impressions of each K-student and how my image of these classmates have changed over the 2 years, plus some other comments...

(Hmm, I don't think that there really is such a term called 'last-impression'...but it simply means of impression of you people since 6 Nov 2009. 'First impression' refers to what I thought of you since first day of school , 2Jan 2008...)

Thank you for introducing me to Kalafina songs. You have really been an efficient treasurer, thanks once again, though it's a pity that your last job has to be given to Chih Siong. By the way, congratulations for achieving a GPA of 4.o. :) You should really go ask your dad to give you double the reward. :)

Without you, I'm quite certain 4K would be late for flag-raising a couple of times. Thanks for all that you've done to keep the class in order. :) I'm also really impressed at your boss-like control over the guys and how you cope with a freaking tight scheldule (NPCC, BSP, class-comm stuff ).

Watching Destination Truth freaked me out. I should have never took Vivyan's advice at her blog...now I have the fear of going to the toilet alone at midnight and I do not dare to stare into any mirrors...

School is pretty slack now, with so many people playing card games (intellectual games) during certain lesson periods, even though HCL O'Level exam is just around the corner...

On the other hand, reading Reborn made me very happy - Mukuro is finally out of prison!!! <3 It's also great to see that Bayakuran is pissed off... Adios...

I'm also sad that the end of the year is coming I leaving 4K soon...cause my classmates are all kinda interesting and awesome people :)... shall do a post regarding every member of 4K (just some short statements for each classmate).

Lol, I thought it was lame at first, but it's actually a neat deal, since that old man has plenty of them. Finding them is easy but it's really a chore to do the plucking, especially when the hair keeps slipping out from my butter-fingers. -.-

Exams are long over and I can't be bothered to do do any revision for HCL...because I have no idea how to and even if I did, I doubt it would enlighten me into scoring higher. The 3hour and 30mins long preparation classes for HCL are also not helping at all. They just dump some mock papers onto our desks and go through them later on. It's no different from daily work. It's good to have practice but then I prefer to have them teach us some techniques to conquer the exam instead of plain going-through. Oh well, whatever it is...there is probably nothing I can really do to pull up my crappy Chinese standard. All day long I'm just watching anime, plucking white hair and mousehunting on Facebook and reading manga, blog entries posted by other classmates.

It will be a miracle if I ever score an A1 for HCL O'Level.

I'm also looking forward to my Shanghai trip in November. :) I don't care if I gain 5kg in weight from eating all the good food there. :)

I find it very ridiculous when scientists claim that the wondrous human brain practically remembers everything and has an infinite memory space...it clearly dosen't apply in my context...why do we have to do revision again and again though? Maybe the long lost petabytes of data we have accumulated over our schooling years lies within our brain's subconsciousness, but it's still seemingly useless if the majority of the human species rely more on conscious thought. Wish there was an easy way to reach that infinite limit of memory power...

I'm also not very familiar with American Law, but why didn't they just call it life-long imprisonment? He will just rot to death before even finishing his sentence. -.- Yes, everyone's angry at the Ponzi Scheme and saying that he deserves this life sentence, but I highly doubt that a 71-year old man is going to last for another 150 years, seriously, unless imprisonment in hell counts too.

You are right, that so dosen't help to chill someone's anger, especially when you sound so calm in your apology.

The only thing that would make his victims forgive him would of course be payment in full, but sadly, all that's lost won't come back in this case. Prison life for over 100 years may as well be enough to serve him right, but I was considering caning to be a better alternative in satisfying victims'anger but then again, maybe not, since it sounds way too immoral to inflict any physical pain onto an old folk, even if he's a schemer.

[EDIT]: I forgot to add something, most of Madoff's assets will be seized by federal marshals to compensate victims, from their yatch to their mink coats...now it seems that NOT all that's lost won't come back after all.

I was so disappointed when I read this damned article. It crushed all my hopes for a week of ~~holidays~~ school closure after June ends...

Obviously most students would love to have school closure due to personal reasons of sloth, but seriously, the higher authorities should consider re-opening schools at later dates because I desperately need extra time to complete my homework and also for the fun I've been missing out and because I don't want to see the teachers who have been the root of all our problems of stress and because I am not prepared for the next big marathon of tests and EOYs. due to the surging numbers of local infection cases. There are currently over 160 cases of H1N1 in S'pore and by the end of this week, it would most probably hit over 250. Schools would only help to facilitate the transmission of the virus at a more rapid pace when both students and staff congregate in the campus. It is inevitable that infection via cluster circulation would have a dramatic increase by then. Though it is true that death rate is low, this does not imply that life is then able to 'continue as normally as possible'. H1N1 is able to hinder people from leading a normal lifestyle due to its effects on health. It isn't just H1N1 actually. As long as you contract an illness, you would very unlikely be a productive individual. Now, the main problem is that more and more Singaporeans are being infected with the virus, which would in turn negatively affect S'pore's progress as a country if infection rate continues to rise over the next few months.

It is true that declaring school closure would result in a potential academic loss for schools ~~to inflict pain on students~~ to finish the syllabus on time, teaching and carrying out revision to prepare students for the EOYs. In my opinion, however, it is better to spare a week for quarantine purposes. The loss would be much greater by the time more of their students are infected by H1N1. This is not a light matter, really.

I feel weak, I feel tired.

I don't know why, why we are spending time in school learning things we will most probably forget years later... The so many tons of gigabytes worth of information the school forces into our heads and attempts to squeezes every ounce of our brain juice out over the years....what are they for? We really aren't learning because we so love to, but just for the sake of learning, passing the grade and getting to the next level. I wonder though, is our future job capabilities determined by our test grades?

I'm starting to hate DHS more and more for spaming our lives with tests every week. I hate it when the school goes by conventional wisdom-More practice, more tests, more homework makes a tudent better, smarter...when I don't feel that's the case.

Tomorrow is the long and deadly Day 2 with 3 periods of facing that teacher with bi-polar disorder (assumption) who said "I hate this class" directly in front of us and having to make us anxious and panic over her mood/temper every now and then.

Sighz...it's only Term 1 and there's already a massive load of hw blasted to us from dear school. Year 4 life is kinda sucky. Now I really wish that I can time-travel back to kindergarden where life is so much more peaceful. Now it's not just school that's gloomy. The outside world is dark and painful too. Reading any finance article in any news is enough to make a person lose his/her smile. All the teachers have been telling us that the world out there is hard and friggin competitive. Finance Lit teacher also showed the massive no. of job applications from people all over the world just to apply for one trainer post in his company. Bloody competition...

Sometimes the reason why I watch Anime is because I want imagine myself being in another world that is much happier and magical than this sulky one. Imagination > Reality. :)

Damn. Renjie is so friggin funny and adorable when he acts as Ringo. Love the NG part where he holds his apple and is confused at what to do (and the ??? subtitles)!!! At least he's not as blur as me though. :) I NG like 10-over times in 1 scene. As quoted from Shi Yi, Ruonan does not even have to refer to script, she can just act naturally as Mama-san. Her seductive glare is just...scary. Wonder if Huang Ching was *0*.

Oh and Teo Ee, I've never seen you seen you looking so stressed and depressed. :)

Applecore is the most entertaining 3K-made film I watched so far. I love how Mdm Arfah lets us watch our classmates' film (Thanks!) instead of some TIME-mag rant that activates sleep. I can't wait to see the PRCs' film too though I think their story/plot basically revolves just around hostel life.

Sigh! It's just the first term but I'm already made depressed by the Himalayas full of tests and major assignments. Not sure if I'll even survive this year. Maybe I'll be buried in a pile of sh*t.

Going for NTU shoot on Tuesday, which means I'll have to skip school and then try very hard to catch up the next day. At least I don't have to run 2.4km for PE though. Muahaha! :D

Air Weapons Club Chalet

Chalet was full of slacking and dozing off but it was still fun. All of us were just watching movies (Death Note), playings cards, not just poker cards but tarot cards too. So it was just sleeping, playing cards, eating, watching, playing cards and sleeping again in a cycle. The only interesting thing was the BBQ-ing.

BBQ event was quite "epic":

We were bbg-ing on the floor cause apparently the chalet unit we booked didn't come with an actual bbq-pit (-_-") so we all sat on the floor and started making our fire by dumping all our charcoal and fire starters in 2 of the trays. All went well until we proceed to cook our food.

THIS WAS WHAT HAPPENED TO 4 OF THE FLOOR TILES UNDER THE TRAY:

For peeps' sake, what were we thinking? It was obvious that we weren't using our brains. It was either we lacked outdoor skills or we just couldn't be bothered to put something below the tray like a concrete slab as Wee Leng had suggested before we bbqed. I knew that shooting desentizes ppl to violence and even makes ppl commit violence but I didn't expect the skills we've obtained from our CCA-training could be applied so quickly and naturally in BBQing where we would create a little destruction quite unconsciously...

This was how it went before the destruction, when we were having a good time cooking:

Quite a number of us, including me, were sitting around our BBQ pit, cooking, flipping over some of the food and chatting -

"This chicken wing can liao?"

"Think so, but that one chao ta already"

"Just leave it there n see who wants to eat it"

"Somebody go put the nuggets on the wire mesh"

"Kay, pass me the tongs."

.....

.....

"Hey those tongs u're using, got use to 'kiap' the charcoal."

"Wha? Shit! I put dunno kiap how many nuggets already leh!?"

"Err...what now ah?"

BOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!!!!!

All of us jumped.

It took us a few seconds to recover from the sudden shock. We looked at what was once our BBQ pit. All of us were stunned, shell-shocked and awe-struck at the mini disaster we had made. For around thirty seconds, we couldn't utter a word and we looked at nothing but the pitifully damaged floor tiles. After an hour plus of cooking, those tiles under the tray couldn't withstand that heat and it expanded and then.....you know, the picture explains it all...

It was not just us who were staring at the floor tiles. Our neighbors beside and opposite our unit were drawn by the explosive sound and stared out of curiosity and shock too.

"Err...what now ah? REALLY!?"

We were screwed for certain, and the food that was cooked on that BBQ-pit that time of course could no longer be eaten. So we began clearing up the mess. A kind lady staying next door helped us to clean up a little mess and contributed to rebuilding the bbq-pit, and this time, the new pit was supported by two bricks below to avoid later damage. We then cooked the remaining food available. (Quite a good thing Samuel ordered a pretty large amount from the caterer) Now, we switched the chefs. Some of us who had cooked earlier on were too frightened to cook. A few had sustained some damages too, like Jing Ting and Felise who had burns. :( I was freaking lucky that I was wearing long pants so the BOOM didn't hurt my legs. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed ourselves, learned something from the BBQ and all was pretty well in the end.

Very "memorable" experience indeed.

There was supposed to be an Amazing Race but there were too little people. Only 3 Year 1s came and none of the Year 2s came. It was really sad. We Year 3s had planned this out and spent alot a time and effort on it. Some of us were really pissed when only 3 of the juniors attended. Seriously, we planned it all out for them and the Race was cancelled in the end. All our efforts were wasted, especially Audrey's. She took alot of time to plan out the games and cycled around Pasir Ris Park for a few times just to plan out the locations for the game stations. SIGHS.

Sad thing that my dad scolded me after I came back from chalet.

One reason I regret for not joining girl guides during Year 1 orientation is the numerous life skills I could have learnt there but missed out. (e.g starting a fire, COOKING). I'm pretty sure that all (or at least almost all) girl guides have some basic knowledge and expertise in cooking, cutting, chopping, BBQing and other fields in the world of culinary. Han Xi is of course not an exception. During the first day of the chalet, we had chef Han Xi unleash her creativity and come up with an 'out of the world' delicacy at Macs. There, the chef was not given any kitchenware or food preparation utensils. She only had some french fries, straws and a couple of sauces from Mac's condiments counter. There was no other fresh ingredients available such as vegetables or meat to aid her in her gourmet creation. The genius chef, however, managed to whip up a new masterpiece comprising of golden fries immersed in an amazing blend of pepper, salt, wasabi cream/flakes, chili sauce and tomato sauce. Okay, so we have spice and almost everything nice - but wait! We are missing sugar!! XD So the chef added a packet of sugar into her fries masterpiece. There it was, an all new, unique Mcdonalds fries gourmet created specially by Han Xi, the master chef. Awesome, it was, and here are some photos to further describe the creation.

It would have been a normal school day today if it's wasn't for a Physics Quiz I had in class today. Yes, just when I thought Physics is supposed to be a serious and meticulous subject, one particular question just popped out of nowhere in this paper:

Mr Lim is being chased after by an elephant. In what manner should he run so that he'll get away safely? Explain your answer.

OMG...I was trying to hold my laughter when I read the question. Sure enough, I was pretty startled to find this in a Physics quiz. Many of my classmates found this question funny as well. If you didn't manage to find this amusing, read it carefully again and if you still can't get my idea, just imagine this scenario: *thought bubble appears*

You are strolling along a quiet, peaceful street when all of a sudden, you felt a slight ground tremor being emitted just a few meters away. Surprised, you turned your head around to see a typical Singaporean by the surname of Lim running at a speed of an average olympic runner, and on his pale face was an undescribable expression of fright and anxiety. With your accurate sense of estimation, you realise that the tremor was not caused by that particular man but actually something else that is chasing him... You thus looked somewhere further away from that person. Shockingly, behind him is neither a policeman with a revolver nor his wife sprinting with a dagger in her hands. Instead, it is a huge, round, four-legged creature with enormous ears and horrifying-looking nose and tusks. Yes, you guessed it right, it's a full-grown male adult elephant rampaging down a road all the way from Mandai! Worse, it just took part in one Anti-Humanity Campaign and is now on the verge of crushing dear Mr.Lim with its foot!! Crap! Why are you still standing there for? Run for your life before you regret it!!!

See? Now you know why I'm here crapping about one single Physics question. I shall not tell you what abnormal answer I wrote cause it's quite embarassing... :P but I know it has something to do with mass and inertia. I love this question a lot, since it's something you'll rarely find in a quiz or a test. The teacher who set this question is a genius and has a good sense of humor. They should really set more of these questions to ensure that more students will be interested in Physics. However, I still have to comment that they are cruel enough to nearly cause me to burst out laughing during the quiz. Ah well, nevermind though... what's most important is that I now love Physics more than ever and I've also learnt from the quiz that your understanding of inertia and speed can save you from a real-life crisis, especially when you are being chased by an object with a ridiculously large amount of mass. After having my Physics teacher to go through this question sometime later, I'll be even more mentally prepared to get trailed by an enormous land mammal.

School again - The repeated cycle

Holidays' over and school's started again. Now that I think of it, our holidays semed to be a little too long. Let's see, what the heck did we do during the days without school? Do homework, surfing the net, msn-ing, cca-ing, going out sometimes... it seems a lot, but if you keep repeating these regular activities, you will soon immerse yourself in a world of 'sian'sation..My cousin thinks that holidays = to freedom but he probably didn't know that holidays could turn uber boring after a few weeks of so. Seriously, I was nearly bored to death when I realised that isnt really anything for me to spend the time.

Okay enough of the boredom talk cause I'm yawning away right now. Anyway, school's started and I'm placed in class 3K. 3K is located in one of the container classrooms with the scary air-con installed. Ah-choo!! I love the cold but I get flu a little too easily though. :) There were supposed to be 25 students in my class but an additional 11 PRC (people republic of China) -scholars were placed in. I was kinda surprised but ah well, I think that my horrible chinese will improve if I converse to them more often. As usual, the first few days of school made way for orientation programs, so no lessons (nice start (: ). Our Year 3 orientation programs were some leadership-training courses that faired pretty well but the lectures nearly bored me to death.

My new form teacher is Mr Tan, who is also our Chemistry teacher. :) Yay!! Mr Tan rox 3K!!! At first I thought that he's a fierce teacher but he later turned out to be a chao hyper and friendly person. :D I also managed to make some friends in the class. Hope I'll manage to get along with them well though.

I'm writing this post after the orientaionprograms ended. This has indeed been a sweet start but next week will be the start of doomsday. You know how the teachers change faces quickly. I try to survive through this year and slack lesser...Clarissa and Qian Ru, I need to borrow your powers of ultra-hardworkingness or I'll suffer terribly. Lols... all the best people, and good luck for this years' EOYs in advance (too early, I guess...). Next Monday I'll be restarting my school tie lending services again so fret not if you forgot to bring your tie to school. This is based on a "first come first serve" rule so remember to call me at my phone number to place reservations if you really lost your tie. I once again apologise for my absolute lameless. It seems that the reason why I'm posting here right now is to express my recent iresistable urge for Bleach(no, not the chemical used for decolourizing fabric. It's an anime). The new Bleach movie is going to be out in Dec 22(in Japan, not S'pore ARGH!!) and I OH SO BADLY WANT TO WATCH THIS MOVIE... I admit that I enjoy watching animes but this is the first time I'm going insane over an anime movie. I feel extremely tortured now...why isn't there a channel where I could tune in to this movie?? If anybody knows if there is a website where I can download this movie a few weeks later after the release, please post it on the tagboard. Do be a kind soul and rescue me from my misery. Lols, just joking...

Stating stand: Yes I agree with the statement to a large extent.

Key statement: Exams make your bowels run literally

Elaboration: this is based on my personal experience. ever since exams started, i have been shitting so much even tho my intake of food is the same, leading me to wonder where all the shit comes from. since everything else is a constant variable and the only variable has changed is the number of exams that i take a per day, i logically conclude that my extra shit has come from the extra exam. as more exams lead to more shit, i similarly conclude that exams is shit. i further substantiate my statement by stating that my experience is similar to others i have conferred with - such as sihui and claire.

Link: As exams lead to more shit and exams are arguably shit, this just goes to show that shit and exams are inextricably linked. in fact i would even go so far to recommend a round of exams to anyone suffering bouts of constipation. this is The Cure for constipation, no need to chomp chomp on all that fibre, jus a round of exams. it's fast and fuss-free!

Elaboration: This is based on my observations and personal experience. the start of an exam is marked by the rustling of papers followed by the steady intense scratching of pens. the tension remains steady for the next hour or so, peaking towards the last 15 minutes and reaching a plateau. The already intense atmosphere further intensifies with people suffering from a symptom i feel is best described by the term "verbal diarrohea". people of course could be pouring forth pearls of wisdom which is possible but unlikely given the constraints of time. (no actly i tink everyone is exuding wisdom except me. i radiate Crap Particles - so u haf Alpha, Beta and Crap particles + Gamma rays)

Okay, so that's enough of this essay. I'm sure that many people would agree that exams are dislikable. However, if you think carefully again, you'll realise the importance of exams. No offence, but exams are actually the most important factors that cause students to strive and work harder in school. I fear and dislike exams as well but if there weren't any exams, I wouldn't even have bothered to revise my school work and I would most probably stop paying attention in class as well. Of course, exams are still the factors that put consideranble stress on students...

Holiday Assignments

"This is just "great"!" I thought to myself when I layed my pile of school holiday assignments on my desk. The amount of homework given wasn't alot, but the level of difficulty and the time needed to complete it was dreaful. They require a pretty large amount of juice to be sueezed out of your brain and each minute you'll be wondering how you should write your answer or how near you are from completing the work. I can just imagine the teacher smirking now - no, not smirking - letting out an evil laugh is more like it. I don't see how homework is really useful to a student except they help you to revise your own work. There are some Lv 80 - 100 school assignments that drain the energy and squash the brain cells of a student. They cause students to dread the school even more and lose their will of "hardworkingness".

But again, I guess homework is still an essential portion of a student's life. You can't live totally without it and it will no loner be school life if it was banished into the void. Homework can be tricky, irritating and hard but there are still plenty of ways to tackle them, just that erm... sometimes you can't really find them and you'll be left with a big question mark hanging on your head or a blank look when you face those questions.

So far I've done my 100+ Maths indices questions and part of my Chinese storybook assignment. Now what I left is a newspaper article report and a 1200-1500words English essay with a tittle called "Blue" (HUH??). Sorry for this nerdy post cause I couldn't help it. I just had to vent my frustration now. People, if you have any suggestions on what to write about my essay topic, please post it on the tagboard. Thx.
